Was thinking about heading out to the track today. Not so sure now.

They are running the Rebel (the first Derby prep) at the Fairgounds today but the races will now be run on a sloppy track and they've already taken the 2nd race off the turf. Leaving the 8th, 10th, and 12th to be run on a soft turf. Don't like any of that.

As of now they are listing Tampa as fast and firm which of course means that the turf races will go. But I don't trust that. Northern Florida looks like a rainout to me. We'll see if Tampa gets spared.

Gulf I think should be safe to hold the fast and firm.

Both Aqu and Lrl are listed as "good". Don't like that either.

Will be making the stay or go decision when I hear from a buddy of mine.

You guys know the routine. You're all welcme to post. The only thing I ask is that you keep a running record of the results of your posted play.

Thanks and good luck.

off tracks are great to bet Michel. Just my personal opinion. Use those Tomlinson numbers. Good Luck today.
My preferred racing surface is always fast and firm, Jack, because the bulk of any horse's back races to study are on those surfaces.

Of course I use the Tomlinson numbers, but they are one of the more inconsistent variables. They bring value to longshot maidens. They lose their significance once a horse establishes his own wet track record. Of course the fact that wet fast, good, muddy, and sloppy are all considered wet tracks further muddies the Tomlinson number. Those are all different running surfaces but are all lumped together as wet track statistics.

Anyway, you are gonna have fun today, Jack. There should be a lot of "off" tracks. Good luck.
